Stephan Reinhardt:" The dry, intensely yellow colored 2015 Mittelheimer St Nikolaus Riesling Grosse Lage offers an intense and complex sur lie bouquet with perfectly ripe and concentrated Riesling aromas. Full-bodied, dense, lush and elegant, this is a great mix of tropical fruits (pineapples) and mirabelles with sur lie and mineral flavors. The 2015 is provided with fine but firm tannins, vitality and finesse. The finish is long, intense and complex, with a lot of salt, tension and tropical fruit flavors. This is a great and promising Rheingau Riesling that pairs generosity with finesse and elegance in an almost weightless but intense and persistent way. Very sensual, lush and lovely. Tasted two times in October. The 2015 St Nikolaus is a blend of three parts that fermented in doppelstück, stück and halbstück (600 liters to 2,400 liters) in which the wine aged on the lees for 20 months. Bottled in August; tasted in October 2017."
