Am Gaumen stoffig, sehr gute Komplexität, finessenreiches Spiel einer präzisen Säurestruktur mit einer sehr gut balancierten Süße, reife Tropenfrucht im Abgang, bleibt sehr gut haften, salzig-mineralischer Nachhall, gutes Entwicklungspotenzial. Großartiger Wurf des Eiswein-Meisters von der Nahe. "

David Schildknecht:" We couldn't get all of the grapes picked soon enough on the 30th of December," relates Donnhoff by way of explaining his 2008 Oberhauser Brucke Riesling Eiswein A.P. #22, "so we got up early the next day. The weather was beautiful, but it was no longer cold. Finally, on January 7 we were able to start back up." The result is a wine of only 7% alcohol that - like its A.P. #21 sibling - resembles a cross between classic Eiswein and Eszencia. Scented with wood smoke; prickly lemon oil; yeasty, slightly stale bread; and caramelized apricots, it saturates the palate seemingly weightlessly with creamy, almost gelatinous essence of apricot and lemon. This turns distinctly smoky and caramelized in its finish, without quite the brightness and refinement of the A.P.#21. Still, it's early days and it would be fascinating to be able to compare these two again in 5 or 10 years. I'm confident this one will remain impressive for at least 20. It appears that the names of their respective months of picking will actually appear on the labels of these two Eiswein, but lest the authorities think -better- of that, I have identified them by their A.P.#s."
